Overview

The capstone project is the culminating assessment of the Digital Life Coaching Bootcamp. It integrates everything you have learned across all six modules: coaching fundamentals, frameworks, active listening, worksheet design, programme architecture, AI integration, and advanced specialization. Completing this project demonstrates that you are ready to practise as a Certified Life Coaching Digital Practitioner.

Estimated time to complete: 25-30 hours over 2-4 weeks.

Project Requirements (8 Components)

Component 1: Coaching Philosophy (500 words)

Write a 500-word (+/- 10%) statement of your coaching philosophy. This is not about what coaching is in general but about how you specifically coach.

Include:

  • Your core belief about human potential and change — What do you fundamentally believe about your clients' capacity for growth?
  • Your primary frameworks and theorists — Whose work influences you most? (e.g., Whitmore's GROW model, Seligman's PERMA, Rogers' person-centred approach, Bridges' transition model)
  • Your role as a coach — Are you primarily a questioner, a challenger, a supporter, a strategist, or a blend? How do you describe your presence in the coaching relationship?
  • What you believe creates transformation — Is it accountability? Insight? Emotional processing? Behavioural repetition? Community? A combination?
  • Your values as a coach — What principles guide your practice? (e.g., client autonomy, evidence-based practice, cultural humility, strengths focus)

"Your coaching philosophy is your anchor. When you are unsure what to do in a session, your philosophy tells you." — Jenny Bird, The Art of Coaching

Component 2: Niche & Package Definition

Define your coaching niche and create at least two service packages.

Niche definition (200-300 words):

  • Who do you coach? Be specific (e.g., "mid-career professionals navigating transition," "ADHD entrepreneurs," "women in tech leadership")
  • What problem do you solve for them?
  • What outcome do they achieve through working with you?
  • What makes you uniquely suited to coach this population?

Service packages (create at least two):

Element Package 1 Example Package 2 Example
Name "The Transition Accelerator" "The Clarity Session"
Duration 12 weeks Single 90-minute session
Sessions 12 x 50 min 1 x 90 min
Includes Worksheets, between-session messaging, intake assessment Worksheet + follow-up email
Price $X $X
Ideal client Professionals in career transition Someone wanting a one-time clarity boost

Component 3: Intake System

Build a complete intake system in CoachSheets:

  1. An intake worksheet with at least 15 questions covering:

    • Demographics and context (3-4 questions)
    • Motivation and goals (3-4 questions)
    • Current challenges and obstacles (3-4 questions)
    • Past coaching or support experience (2-3 questions)
    • Logistics and preferences (2-3 questions)
  2. An automation rule that triggers upon client creation:

    • Send the intake worksheet automatically
    • Set a reminder for the client to complete it
    • Notify you when it is completed

Component 4: 12-Week Coaching Programme

Design a 12-week programme with a clear narrative arc.

Programme structure:

Phase Weeks Focus
Foundation 1-4 Assessment, awareness, goal-setting, building the coaching relationship
Deep Work 5-8 Pattern interruption, skill building, deeper exploration of core challenges
Integration 9-12 Consolidation, sustainability planning, celebration, next steps

Include at least 6 worksheets distributed across the 12 weeks. Worksheet types should vary — include at least three different element types (e.g., reflection questions, a wheel exercise, a decision matrix, a habit tracker, a timeline exercise, a values assessment).

Each worksheet must include:

  • A clear title and description
  • 3-10 questions or elements
  • Instructions for the client

At least one worksheet should use an interactive element type (wheel, scale, matrix, timeline, etc.) from the CoachSheets element library.

Component 5: Three Completed Worksheets (Framework Application)

Demonstrate your ability to apply coaching frameworks by completing three worksheets as if you were the client. Each worksheet must clearly show the application of a specific coaching framework.

Framework 1: Values clarification — Use a values-based worksheet (values card sort, values compass, or values bullseye). Complete it authentically with your own values.

Framework 2: Wheel or balanced assessment — Use a wheel-type worksheet (wheel of life, energy audit, or similar). Rate yourself honestly and reflect on the results.

Framework 3: Your choice — Choose one additional framework from the bootcamp (SMART goals, GROW model, decision matrix, timeline, PERMA assessment, etc.). Complete the worksheet and reflect on the insight it generated.

Each completed worksheet must include a 100-word reflection on what the framework revealed and how it might be useful for a client.

Component 6: Mock Session Report

Conduct a 45-minute coaching session with a peer, friend, or volunteer client (or simulate a session if no volunteer is available). Write a 500-word report covering:

  • Client context (demographic information disguised for privacy)
  • Session goal — What did the client want to achieve in this session?
  • Frameworks used — What coaching frameworks or models did you draw on?
  • Key moments — What was the most powerful moment in the session? A question that landed? A silence that held insight? An observation that shifted perspective?
  • What you did well — Specific coaching competencies you demonstrated
  • What you would improve — Honest self-assessment of at least one area for growth
  • Coach self-observation — What was going on for you internally during the session? Any triggers, judgments, or distractions?

Component 7: Specialization 6-Week Programme

Import or reference the 6-week programme you built in Lesson 6.7 (Project: Specialization Deep Dive). If you need to revise it based on feedback, do so before submitting.

This programme should be a separate programme in CoachSheets from the 12-week programme in Component 4. It demonstrates your ability to serve a specific population with tailored interventions.

Component 8: Reflection Essay (1000 words)

Write a 1000-word (+/- 10%) reflective essay on your development through the bootcamp.

Prompt: How have you changed as a coach through this programme?

Address:

  • Where you started — What did you believe about coaching when you began? What were your strengths and gaps?
  • Key shifts — What concepts, frameworks, or experiences most significantly shifted your understanding of coaching?
  • Challenges — What was hardest for you? What did you resist or struggle with?
  • Growth areas remaining — What will you work on next? What is your edge as a coach?
  • Your coaching identity — Who are you as a coach now? How would you describe your style, philosophy, and presence to a potential client?
  • Your vision — What kind of coach do you want to become in the next 1-3 years?

This is not a summary of what you learned. It is a genuine reflection on your personal and professional development. Be honest about difficulties, uncertainties, and areas for continued growth.

Assessment Criteria

The capstone is assessed through three mechanisms:

1. Automated Verification (System Check)

CoachSheets will automatically verify:

  • A 12-week programme exists in your account (Component 4)
  • At least 6 worksheets are attached to the programme (Component 4)
  • At least one automation rule exists (Component 3)
  • At least one recurring schedule exists
  • A separate 6-week specialization programme exists (Component 7)
  • An intake worksheet with 15+ questions exists (Component 3)

2. Capstone Quiz (60 Questions, 80% Pass Threshold)

The quiz covers content from all six modules:

  • Coaching fundamentals and definitions (8 questions)
  • ICF Core Competencies and ethics (10 questions)
  • Coaching frameworks (GROW, SMART, Wheel of Life, etc.) (10 questions)
  • Worksheet design and digital tools (6 questions)
  • Programme architecture and client management (6 questions)
  • Specialization and advanced topics (10 questions)
  • AI integration and digital coaching ethics (6 questions)
  • Capstone integration / scenario-based (4 questions)

You must score at least 48 out of 60 (80%) to pass. You may retake the quiz once.

3. Peer Review (2 Reviews Required)

You will review two peers' capstone submissions. Each review must address:

  1. Clarity: Is the coaching philosophy clear and coherent?
  2. Completeness: Are all 8 components present and complete?
  3. Quality: Does the programme design feel thoughtful and well-structured?
  4. Strengths: What is strongest about this coach's system?
  5. Growth Edge: What is one suggestion for further development?
  6. Overall: Would you refer a client to this coach? Why or why not?

Your capstone will also receive peer reviews from two fellow bootcamp graduates.
